Stafford’s Poems
Wilda Morris

In Europe where the dandelion
is not weed but wildflower,
they would understand
what I mean when I say
these late poems of William Stafford
are perfect as the white umbel,
each seed on its own parachute
awaiting the breeze or breath
to blow them into another forest,
another yard, another garden.
